Violent Lamb
Inept, obnoxious, annoying, fractured, fucked up, damaged, demented, freaked out, warped, punk as fuck... the VIOLENT STUDENTS are joining forces with LAMBSBREAD for a special one time only appearance. Expect a glorious seething mess, Butthole Surfers in a bitch-fight with Hairy Pussy as instigated by a yet to be housebroken Dead C dual guitar trepanning of Black Flag's cover of "Terraplane Blues", in other words... a beer-soaked throbbing scree of drums, drums, bass, guitar, guitar, and vocal anguish.

Child Abuse
Total blissful fast/staccato jello-sounds for the new punx. CHILD ABUSE place audience members into complete aural convulsion and at the same time drench them in their own metaphorical Gurdjieffian "I" vomit. How? CHILD ABUSE combine the best of heavy machine gun spurts of atonal tech-metal to confusing off time blurps and murps, Residents style hump-funk, aspects of wildly enthusiastic children's music (ala G. Brassens, F. Kubin, B. Haack, R. Scott) and growls and howls of 1973 mud groove rock improvisations with the spirits of Drumbo and Carl Nielson hovering ominously overhead. Featuring ex-SIEGE bass player. Recent tour with GENGHIS TRON.

Sic ALps
Poised to charge straight into your heart with a mix of garage/psych/noise that couldn't have been created anywhere else but in San Francisco. SIC ALPS feature the talents of two pop-icons... Mike Donovan (Church Steps, Ropers, and Folding Cassettes label boss) on guitar/vocals and Matt Hartman (Henry's Dress, Coachwhips, Cat Power) as drummer/multi-instrumentalist. Currently a new album is being recorded with Tim Green at Louder Studios. A 4-song 12" EP "The Soft Tour in Rough Form" will be released by Mt St Mtn (www.mtstmtn.com) in April.

adoration
Tonal conceptions captured in clouds of reverb, where sounds delay and degrade into a thundering mass, evoking uncertain and damaged visions only to then dissolve into waves of anxiety. ADORATION is the guitar-generated noise of Andrew Giles.

CASIOTONE FOR THE PAINFULLY ALONE/
DONKEYS/THE EXTRAORDINAIRES

Casiotone Website
I am pumped that my good bud Owen is coming back to the Forum. Last time he was here he played with Pissed Jeans and Dear Nora. This time he is on a big tour, in support of his new record. Let me just tell you that the first single off of it (Young Shields) is so good, and so righteous that I am going to put up an Mp3 of it right now...

Here is the official bio for Casiotone…

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone is the musical alias of 28 year old American film school drop-out Owen Ashworth. Ashworth began making music in 1997 after he realized that song-making was a far more cost-effective means of storytelling than film-making.

The first three Casiotone for the Painfully Alone albums were made using only battery operated keyboards and electronics recorded to 4-track cassette. With 1999's Answering Machine Music, 2001's Pocket Symphonies for Lonesome Subway Cars (now collected onto one CD), and 2003's Twinkle Echo, Ashworth defined a hybrid strain of raw, emotional, and very homemade synth pop that was instantly recognizable as his own. Claustrophobic two-minute character studies shuddered with reverbed beats, blown-out chords, and simple but infectous melodies, all layered beneath Ashworth's sometimes funny but always heartbreaking lyrics.

Believing he had taken his self-imposed set of limitations to their logical conclusion, Ashworth expanded his sound with 2006's Etiquette. Etiquette removes the focus from a decidedly utilitarlian aesthetic to a broader production spectrum that finally gives Ashworth's personal, affecting song writing the space it deserves. In collaboration with producers and musicians like Jherek Biscoff (of The Dead Science and Degenerate Art Ensemble) and Jason Quever (The Papercuts and Pan American Recording Studio), the sound of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone has grown to include pianos, organs, strings, flutes, drums, and pedal steel guitars in addition to Ashworth's signature electronics and drum machines.

The donkeys will be playing this show as well. I don’t know a whole lot about them except to tell you that I saw them play once is San Francisco, and they were great. Owen is really pumped to be touring with them. They have a myspace page (www.myspace.com/thedonkeys), which is short on information, but has a few songs to listen to.
Also on the bill is a band that Owen specifically asked me to have play on the show. Here is a little bio from their website.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Extraordinaires were formed during the harsh Philadelphia winter of 2004, when Jay Purdy set out to write and record his second solo acoustic album. Very shortly after the project left the ground Matt Gibson, a long time friend and band mate, decided to lend his talents on bass and harmonizing vocals. It was then that The Extraordinaires (named after the urban exploration group the Expedition Extraordinaires) were born. From these sessions came their first album release on Envoy Records entitled "Ikua" (now out of print), a live recording that painted scenes of family heroes, adolescent curiosites, and a random assortment of short stories both fictional and true.

During their first tour in March of 2005, gears began turning on their current project, a operatic tale of tragic romance set against a timeless backdrop named "Ribbons of War". After being approached by Frede Zimmer of Punk Rock Payroll, the idea was pitched for a labor intesive DIY project that would take nine months to fully complete; 1,000 limited edition hardcover books that illustrated the entire narrative from start to finish. With a handshake the project was in full swing. The album itself was recorded in a renovated barn in Lansdale, PA, over a week long retreat at then drummer Justin Wolf's (Lux Perpetua) grandparent's house. One by one pieces to the puzzle were acquired. Illustrations were sketched and inked to fully realize the visual potential of each song, sheets of masonite wood were cut to size and fabric was tested with cover art, and all of the other acoutrements slowly found their way into Punk Rock Payroll HQ. After nine exhausting months of extensive prep, the Punk Rock Payroll Family (which includes Frede and Misty Zimmer, Jay Purdy, Matt Gibson, Jonny the "Corndawg" Fritz, Brandon Joyce, and many other close friends) have released their first album in the form of an illustrated 36-page book that accompanies a recording of wildly imaginative arrangements and lyrical storytelling.
The Extraordinaires embark on their first US tour in January of 2006, which promises to be less of a show and more of a theatrical expirience featuring costumes, set, and narration in full character. For more information on Extraordinaires Theater, click here.
